No technology can replace good Bible knowledge.

Critical Armor often talks about Building the Castle.  A good castle possesses weapons for offence and protections for defense, however, neither do any good without a deep foundation underneath.  The ABC’s of Christian Growth by Robert J. Sargent provides clear Bible teaching across a spectrum of doctrinal studies.  Without a doubt one of the best teaching tools for New Christians and Sunday School, Critical Armor recommends these inexpensive materials for home and family use.  Teens may use the ABC’s to supplement homeschool, families may discuss each section night-by-night in devotion time.  Since the studies center exclusively on the Bible, the book may be used over and over again, with new discoveries each time.

Doctrine (or teaching) fills in the gaps in the castle wall.

Each lesson (listed below) follows through a basic Bible doctrine, such as “Assurance” for the letter A, and completes a serious search of the Scriptures (Figure 2).  The book does not necessarily spoon feed the answer, but conversely, neither does it require pages of written responses to complete.

Instead, usually each point draws out a single word from the KJV Bible to illuminate God’s Word on each subject.  Each lessons “stacks” evidence on the major points, pulling from several verses together building an unassailable case in the student’s mind.

As a side note:  While not overly “theological”, this book may go a little deep for smaller children, perhaps under ten years old.  However, parents with smaller children may use the material for their own personal study to huge spiritual benefit.  Even young children will benefit as parents gain Bible knowledge.
